Interventional Radiology Services

An Alternative to Surgery

RAA’s Interventional Radiologists perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ of the body. Our Interventional Radiologists are highly trained experts in minimally invasive medical procedures.

What is IR?

An Interventional Radiology procedure is performed with small instruments that enter the body through a tiny skin nick or incision. Once in the body, the doctor sees and guides the instruments using imaging, like X-rays and Ultrasound. Once the procedure is complete, the skin nick is covered with a small bandage.

What can IR help treat?

Interventional Radiology can be used to treat benign tumors, certain types of cancer, uterine fibroids, spine fractures, and pelvic pain. In addition, our Interventional Radiologists are often called upon by other doctors for help with patients who present challenging or problematic conditions.

The benefits of IR

The benefits to having an Interventional Radiology Procedure as compared to surgery are significant. The procedures are less invasive, less painful, and safer than surgery. Patients experience shorter recovery times after an IR procedure than they normally would experience after surgery. The procedures are less expensive, and result in higher patient satisfaction than surgical procedures.
