What is SonoCine?

An investigational, computer-guided ultrasound whole-breast cancer detection process currently undergoing a multi-center trial to determine if this method of breast screening by ultrasound can discover breast cancers not found by screening mammography or physical examination.

What’s the difference between SonoCine and Traditional Ultrasound?

Current method breast ultrasound:

•  Hand held ultrasound

•  Focused exam only (palpable lump or mass found by mammogram)

•  American College of Radiology ACR does not support using this method to screen the entire breast

SonoCine Method

  • Semi-automated
  • Can image entire breast to include axilla
  • Scans in rows, one breast 5-10 rows each row 200-300 images
  • Study provides 2,000 – 6,000 images in total
  • Images are burned onto a CD and reviewed by a radiologist on a workstation that has 3D software
