Interventional radiology involves both the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Using x-rays and other imaging techniques, interventional radiologists use thin tubes (catheters) and other tiny instruments through the blood vessels, and other pathways of the body, to treat a wide variety of conditions that once required surgery.

These procedures are generally less traumatic, with smaller incisions, less pain and shorter recovery times. A team of specialized doctors, nurses and technologists provides not only high quality care, but also the highest possible level of patient comfort and safety.

Here is a list of some of the procedures performed by RAA Interventional Radiologists:

Angiography
X-ray exam of the arteries and veins.

Angioplasty, Stents and Thrombolysis
Opening blocked blood vessels.

Aortic Stent -Graft ( Endograft )
Repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Biliary Drainage and Stents
Treatment of blocked bile ducts in the liver.

Biopsy
Using needles to obtain tissue specimens for diagnosis.

Cancer Therapy, Including Radiofrequency Tumor Ablation and Chemoembolization
Direct treatment of tumors in the liver and other organs.

Dialysis Access Management
Diagnosis and treatment of blocked or poorly functioning dialysis shunts.

Gastrostomy
Placement of a tube into the stomach for giving food and medicine.

Nephrostomy
Placement of a tube into the kidney to relieve urinary blockage.

TIPS
To treat bleeding caused by liver disease (cirrhosis).

Uterine Fibroid Embolization
Non-surgical treatment of tumors (fibroids) in the uterus.

Venous Access
Placement of dialysis catheters, chest ports, arm ports, and other central venous catheters.

Vertebroplasty

Treatment of spinal fractures to relieve pain.
